Topic 1: Criminal Rehabilitation

A classic nature vs. nurture argument. The real question is, are people born evil? Or are they influenced to be that way due to their social circumstances? Many have tried to answer that question but unfortunately, none of their deductions were accurate. Due to this uncertainty, many countries implement criminal rehabilitation regimens, said regimes intend to separate criminals from the situations that lead many of them to commit these crimes in the first place.

Topic 2: Protecting the freedom and rights of civilians during counterterrorism

Terrorism has clear and direct impacts on human rights, with devastating consequences that immediately affect the people’s access to their rights, life, liberty, and physical integrity. In addition to these individual costs, terrorism can destabilize governments, undermine civil society, jeopardize peace and security, and threaten social and economic development. This demonstrates the importance of protecting the freedom and rights of civilians during counterterrorism. How can you preserve those rights, and grant everyone the safety that they deserve?
